Introduction
My Great-Grandma Reynolds, whom I remember from my childhood, was a Nye. A family tree in my possession traced her ancestry back only to her grandparents, Ansel Tobey Nye and Sarah Wilson Hubbard. Most of the rest of what appears here, then, comes via the internet--my own discoveries plus the help of some of the many "web friends" I've made in this little journey. I'm especially indebeted to my something-cousin Bob Couch, who gave unstintingly of his information regarding the Quinby/Quimby branch of this family. Check out his interesting research, "Children of Selden & Ann (Low) Quimby." (Actually, Bob assures me that we're fourth cousins. Works for me.)

I'm confident of the Nye information from my great-grandmother, Velma Nye Reynolds, through her grandfather, Ansel Tobey Nye: that information meshes with family data. From there on back, I'm reliant on secondary research and "web friends." The farther back I go, the larger the grain of salt I take it with. I'm very leery of everything that predates Lave Nye--not all of the sources I've seen agree on his parentage--but I include it here for fun.

As always, if you're a long-lost relative, get in touch!
